Celebrating the San Diego Press Club at their annual journalism awards

I had an amazing time at the San Diego Press Club’s annual journalism awards. It was the chapter’s 50th anniversary! I’ve been a board member of the Press Club for nearly a decade and I’ve been a member for a lot longer than that.

In addition to enjoying the awards gala, I was honored to receive three awards for my writing: two for “House Digest” articles and one for retirement blogs for a client of mine.

Here’s are the award winning “House Digest” articles: Best Vacation Rentals in Charleston, S.C. and “Quick and Easy Decluttering in Less Than 10 Minutes.”

Best Advice For Someone Facing Insurmountable Odds

Recently website, SDVoyager reached out asking me to share my advice in one of their columns. Here’s the question:

advice

Here’s my response:

Don’t give up. It gets better but it might take time. In the face of a challenge, make the best of the situation; always take care of yourself; and lean on loved ones for support.

I would want that person to not give up hope. What would your advice be?

Times of San Diego article sources Kristen Castillo, San Diego Press Club President

Thank you Times of San Diego for including me in your article about the recent sale of the The San Diego Union-Tribune and Los Angeles Times.

Here’s an excerpt:

For Kristen Castillo, 2018 president of the San Diego Press Club, the sale represented another change in the local media landscape. “We are hopeful this sale protects the integrity of news while also supporting our fellow journalists,” she said.

I am honored to serve as President of the San Diego Press Club.
